The Library Is Open! Drag Community Panel & Cabaret Showcase
About the event
We'll begin with a panel featuring some of Seattle’s top producers, most seasoned hosts, and a range of experience spanning from the Imperial Sovereign Court to the iconic drag show TUSH, royalty from the pageantry circuits, drag-founded nonprofits, and more.
In the second half of our program, each of our panelists will share their art and performance, intermingled with moments of history and community education from curators Kochina Rude and Miss Texas 1988. This event will also include tabling from local organizations that provide grants, awareness, and resources for queer arts and community aid.
About the Curators
Kochina Rude is a drag queen, emcee, DJ, and internationally recognized harm reduction advocate based in Oakland, California. Armed with a “do-it-yourself” attitude and over a decade of experience in Bay Area nightlife, Kochina’s work blends activism and performance art at the intersection of punk, drag, and public health in her role as a professional entertainer.
Miss Texas 1988 is a Seattle drag artist, performer, host, writer, and all-around creative oddball. She dabbles in everything from the silly to the sublime with curiously crafted costumes and climactic characters. Catch her as a cast member of Tush, The Sunday Sip, Lashes, Glory Hole, Jawbreaker, and as the host of High F@ggotry. You can also find her rampaging around as a reporter for The Stranger, and on OUTtv as the winner of Camp Wannakiki Season 5.
