EcoBlitz - Grouse Mountain Regional Park, Understory Restoration
About the event
Come be a part of restoring a patch of forest in Grouse Mountain Regional Park by planting native species in the understory!
Due to the dense canopy and off trail activity, the forested area along Baden Powell trail has sparse understory. To help restore this area into a healthier, more resilient forest, we will be planting native understory species.
Join us as we restore biodiversity to this area in Grouse Mountain Regional Park.
When: Friday, Oct. 9th, 2026 Time: 10:00am - 12:30pm. Where: Grouse Mountain Regional Park – Meet at the kiosk at the trailhead. What: Native species planting & spreading mulch (lots!).
We will provide you with all the information and tools needed for the work we will be doing. This includes shovels, picks, eye protection, and gloves, although if people prefer to use their own gloves they are welcome to do so. The event is rain or shine. Please arrive dressed for the weather, in clothing that can get dirty, with appropriate footwear. Please bring water bottles and a snack if you tend to get hungry while working. We will provide light snacks and water for refilling water bottles.
A few things to note about the site: • There is a parking lot on site. Parking instructions will be included in the event confirmation email. • There is a washroom that is a quick walk from the trailhead. • Our worksite is a 5 minute walk from the trailhead.
