What this is WordCamps are WordPress conferences run by the local community. They happen in cities all over the world, organised by volunteers, and this is Bengaluru’s. If you have been to the monthly meetup, it is the same crowd in a much bigger room. It runs on 21 and 22 November at St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School on Museum Road. We did this in 2023, 2024 and 2025. Last year was more than 300 people, 31 speakers and 24 sessions across two halls, and this year we are planning for around 400.
The sessions This year’s theme is WordPress and AI, and the scope runs a good deal wider than the CMS. Sessions span AI and WordPress, development and extensibility, design and UX, content, SEO and publishing, WooCommerce, performance and security, accessibility and the open web, business and freelancing, and community and contributing. Two stages run side by side through the day, so there is almost always a choice of two things on. Talks are 30 minutes, lightning talks are 15, and there are hands-on workshops where you open a laptop and follow along, plus panels. Talks can be given in English or Kannada. The lineup is being picked now and goes up on the site as speakers are confirmed. You do not need to be a WordPress developer, or a developer at all, for most of this to be useful. The topics above are the ones people came to Bengaluru to talk about, and very little of it stops being true when you switch tools.
The people, which is the actual reason to come Around 400 people are expected: developers, designers, founders, freelancers, agency teams, students, writers, and this year a lot of people trying to work out what AI does to how they work. The schedule is only half of it. Registration and breakfast start at 8:00 AM, opening remarks are at 9:00 and the first session is at 9:15, so the first hour is entirely about finding people. After that there is a break in the middle of the morning and an hour for lunch, and a fair bit of a WordCamp happens in those rather than in either hall. Nobody minds if you skip a session for a conversation, which is worth knowing in advance. If you are freelancing, hiring, job hunting, or just tired of being the only person you know who does this for a living, that is the part of the day worth turning up early for.
The two days
• Sunday 22 November is the main day, at SJBHS on Museum Road. Registration and breakfast from 8:00 AM, opening remarks at 9:00, two tracks running through the afternoon. • Saturday 21 November is Contributor Day, which is a working day rather than a talks day. You sit at a table with other people and put something back into WordPress itself: code, documentation, translation, design, testing, support. Covered by the same ticket, with its own sign-up and limited places. Venue announced shortly.
