More on the Artist:
Gabriel Espi is a singer, songwriter and producer based in Cape Town. Having grown up surrounded by instruments and sounds, Gabriel approaches music in a deeply intuitive way, following the spark of a song as it grows through interactions with audiences and other musicians.
Fresh from recording for an upcoming project, Gabriel and the band are locked in and excited to share their signature songwriting sound infused with Brazilian music and jazz influences. In his own discography the Intimations EP (2021) and Many Moons LP (2023) showcase an approach to music that is experimental and daring while always remaining rooted in the emotional journey of the song.
The last seven years have seen Gabriel constantly developing and refining his voice not only as a singer and guitarist, but also as a producer, working with some of the best musicians around South Africa to create unique recordings and live shows. Gabriel’s style is strongly inspired by music from Latin America, especially Brazilian music, as well as jazz, hip-hop and folk. A top 5 musical influences consisting of the Beatles, Caetano Veloso, Outkast, Djavan and Stevie Wonder provides a glimpse of the blend of feelings and sounds that make up his music.
