Tribute to Oscar Peterson trio
About the event
Thijs Cuppen (piano), Martien Oster (guitar), and Carla Beekman (double bass) pay tribute to the Oscar Peterson Trio at the Pianola Museum Amsterdam. Discover Peterson's lesser-known lineup: piano, guitar, and double bass. Jazz with an unusual lineup
Oscar Peterson is known for his trio with piano, double bass, and drums. Less well-known are his performances with piano, guitar, and double bass. It is precisely this lineup that takes center stage in this concert. Jazz pianist Thijs Cuppen, guitarist Martien Oster, and double bassist Carla Beekman perform works from Peterson's repertoire in an intimate setting.
The musicians
Thijs Cuppen is a highly sought-after pianist in the Dutch jazz scene and has collaborated with artists such as Deborah J. Carter and Mathilde Santing. Martien Oster studied in Los Angeles and played with names like Chet Baker, Toots Thielemans, and Diana Krall. Carla Beekman studied double bass at the Sweelinck Conservatory and has performed at home and abroad, including at the renowned Jazzcafé Alto.
Pianola Museum Amsterdam as decor
The concert takes place at the Pianola Museum in Amsterdam. This museum offers a special backdrop for a jazz evening. The atmospheric space suits Peterson's style well: refined, warm, and musically profound. Are you interested? Tickets are available via the Pianola Museum website.
