🐜 A BioBlitz is a community based event where people work together to find and identify as many species of plants, animals, fungi, and other living organisms as possible within a specific area over a set period of time!
Have you ever been curious about the biodiversity around you and wanted a chance to discover just how many different species can be found in one place?
🪶Our Urban Woods Initiative members, Kianna and Patrick, will be hosting our first ever BioBlitz, focused on discovering and appreciating the incredible diversity of plants, animals, fungi, insects, birds, and other living organisms throughout Discovery Park.
✏️ Prep: If you’d like to come best prepared for the BioBlitz, consider bringing a notebook and something to write with for observations, and downloading the iNaturalist app on your phone ahead of time to help identify and document what we find. Also:
• Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather.
• Bring water, snacks, bug repellent, and sun protection as needed.
• Bring binoculars, a camera, or other nature observation tools if you have them.
🌿 The BIPOC BioBlitz is free to join! No experience required—rain or shine! If you’ve ever been interested in wildlife, plants, birds, insects, fungi, or just nature walks, we’d love to have you join us.
