FRIDAY OCTOBER 9, 2026 @ 7:30 PM NILADRI KUMAAR: The Space Between The Notes Sitar and Zitar maestro Niladri Kumaar has been described as a maverick musician, composer, and one of the most innovative voices in Indian classical music today. A frequent collaborator with the late Ustad Zakir Hussain, Niladri shared a profound artistic bond with the legendary percussionist. Their musical journey together culminated in the acclaimed live recording, The Space Between the Notes, captured in Mumbai. In this special presentation, Niladri honors his friend and mentor by revisiting music from that final collaboration while weaving in his own original compositions and contemporary interpretations. The result is a deeply personal and evocative musical experience that bridges tradition and innovation. Joined by Satyajit Talwalkar (tabla), Agnelo Fernandes (keys), and Sambit Chatterjee (drums), Niladri brings to Austin a specially curated performance featuring both his Sitar and the groundbreaking Zitar, continuing his mission of expanding the reach and possibilities of Indian music.
