Monschau Sunday Escape: Forest Hike & Lunch in the Old Town 🌲🏘️
About the event
Join us for a Sunday across the German border, combining a scenic hike around Monschau with lunch in its charming old town.
We’ll explore the Rur Valley’s forest paths and riverside scenery, then enjoy a meal together among half-timbered houses and cobbled streets before returning to Brussels by bus and train.

The Plan
07:45 — Meet at Brussels-Central Meet at the station’s Cantersteen entrance. Please arrive on time, with your train ticket ready
08:01 — Train to Eupen Take IC 506 towards Eupen, scheduled from platform 3. Arrival in Eupen at 09:42
We’ll then walk to the Hookstrasse bus stop
09:58 — Bus 385 towards Monschau Burgau Get off at Monschau Altstadt (H.1) at 10:22
10:30–13:30 — Hike around Monschau We’ll follow a circular route of approximately 12 km through the Rur Valley, with short breaks for photographs and enjoying the surroundings.
Expect uneven forest paths and some uphill sections. Good walking fitness and hiking shoes with grip are required.
13:30 — Lunch in Monschau We’ll return to town for lunch together. Everyone orders and pays for their own meal. Restaurant details will be shared in the event WhatsApp group.
If time allows, we’ll enjoy a short stroll through the old town before departure
15:25 — Bus back to Eupen Take bus 385 towards Eupen Bushof from Monschau Altstadt (H.1). Get off at Eupen Bahnhof (Noerether Strasse) at 15:51, then walk to the train station
16:17 — Train back to Brussels Take IC 539 towards Bruges, scheduled from platform 2
17:55 — Arrival at Brussels-Central
