Fresku & Metropole Orkest o.l.v. Simon Dobson
About the event
Fresku and the Metropole Orchestra are coming to our Main Hall for a unique, full-evening program! In Hand op mijn hart, hip-hop and orchestral music form a natural and multifaceted alliance. The Metropole Orchestra lays a rich foundation of pop, soul, and jazz, upon which Fresku brings his stories to life more personally, musically, and expressively than ever. Also check the page with information about amplified concerts. Fresku
Fresku (Roy Michael Reymound, 1986) is regarded as one of the most influential and versatile voices in Dutch hip-hop. Since his breakthrough in 2008 with Brief aan Kees, he has developed into an artist who effortlessly combines music, cabaret, and acting. In 2024, his sixth solo album, Leerleven, was released—a personal and layered work about fatherhood, ego, and growth, which was awarded an Edison. Tonight's program, Hand op mijn hart, aligns thematically with Leerleven. The collaboration with the Metropole Orchestra thus marks a next step in Fresku's artistic development: more personal, musical, and outspoken than ever. In Fresku's own words: 'I haven't become a huge commercial artist, but I do feel a lot of appreciation. From the public, from critics, from colleagues. This project is one of those moments when I truly realize that: I have achieved something. My stubbornness of the past few years has paid off.'
