About the event

For those who haven’t joined us before, we’ll order drinks or food, introduce ourselves, and settle in for a relaxed, spoiler-filled conversation. I’ll bring discussion questions, but most of the event will be a free-flowing conversation where everyone can share what they loved, disliked, feared, or questioned. This month’s read is Old Lonely by author Yadir Soul. About the Book Cole and Alice arrive at an isolated couples retreat carrying twelve years of love, resentment, betrayal, and things neither of them knows how to say out loud. They are not alone. Several other couples have come to the mountain hoping to repair their relationships, but something ancient is watching from beyond the retreat’s lights. It studies their regrets. It imitates familiar voices. It wears the faces of the people they love. And it knows that the greatest distance between two people is not measured in miles. As the retreat descends into violence and paranoia, the couples must confront the truths they have hidden from each other before Old Lonely turns those secrets into weapons. This is a supernatural psychological horror novel about marriage, guilt, forgiveness, grief, and the terrifying choice to keep loving someone after trust has been broken. Ideal for Readers Who Enjoy * Supernatural and psychological horror * Isolated settings * Relationship-driven suspense * Creatures that imitate human voices and faces * Complicated, morally imperfect characters * Graphic and emotionally intense death scenes * Stories about love, betrayal, grief, and survival Getting the Book Old Lonely is available in paperback and Kindle formats on Amazon: This month's read is "Old Lonely" by Yadir Soul. https://a.co/d/0cqXiwrv Please purchase or begin reading the book soon after RSVPing so you have enough time to finish before the discussion. A limited number of signed paperback copies will also be available for purchase at the event. Anyone who already owns a physical copy is welcome to bring it for a complimentary signature. What to Expect We’ll discuss the characters, relationships, scares, death scenes, mythology, pacing, and ending. This will be a full-spoiler discussion. Because the author will be attending, honesty is especially encouraged. No one is expected to praise the book, leave a review, or post about it online. The goal is a genuine and respectful conversation between readers. Event cost: Free Book: Purchased separately Age requirement: Adults 18+ Attendees: Limited to 10 Duration: Approximately 90 minutes Attendees are responsible for purchasing their own food or drinks from the venue. Content Warning This novel contains graphic violence, gore, death, strong language, disturbing supernatural imagery, relationship trauma, betrayal, grief, and emotionally intense themes. Please RSVP only if you genuinely plan to read the book before attending. Come ready to discuss what frightened you, what affected you, and whether you would have survived the mountain. 📚🌲
