When his apple brandy business is completely destroyed, a drunk salesman is left without money or shelter in an icy wilderness. He struggles to survive by learning – by trial and error – the art of fur trapping. He falls in love with a fur trader’s daughter and is given a seemingly impossible mission: if he can catch hundreds of beavers, he can marry the girl.
