About the event
Venue: Bukit Batok Library, Ripples Circle, Level 2
(31 August 2026, updated programme banner and change of speaker from Felix Avellino Philmone to Sumaiyah Mohamed)
About the Event
The Human Library, titled “Let’s Get Comfortable”, aims to reframe mental health conversations not as brave or difficult acts, but as human, everyday exchanges. Through warmth, choice and shared stories, this Human Library invites the public to sit in with an open mind and learn more about living with mental health conditions.
Lots of Love in Recovery
More than twenty years after her lived experience with schizophrenia, Sumaiyah continues to embrace life with gratitude, purpose and hope. Through her recovery journey, she discovered that healing is nurtured by love from the Divine, from family and friends and also through meaningful work and hobbies.
Join Sumaiyah as she shares how listening with an open heart can deepen understanding, strengthen connections and remind us of the love that can carry us through recovery.
From Isolation to Empowerment
For years, Salamah struggled with loneliness, trauma and mental health challenges while living with Mild Intellectual Disability. Through the support of Club HEAL, she discovered that recovery begins with being accepted, understood and heard. Today, as a peer leader, she shares her lived experience to encourage others and show that every voice matters.
Hear Salamah's inspiring journey of resilience, hope and empowerment, and discover how listening with compassion can transform lives.
