IWM Presents: Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk
About the event
Join us this November at Churchill War Rooms for a screening of Christopher Nolan's multi-award winning 2017 war epic, Dunkirk. Following the screening, join IWM's Fraser McCallum, and Will Ramsay, the grandson of Admiral Sir Bertram Ramsay, the commander of the Dunkirk evacuation. They'll discuss the film and its historic background, before answering your questions. After the talk, you'll be free to explore Churchill War Rooms, which was used as the base of operations for the British Government to conduct the war effort in the months and years following the Dunkirk evacuation. Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan writes, directs and produces this wartime epic action thriller, featuring a prestigious ensemble cast including Tom Hardy, Academy Award® winners Mark Rylance and Kenneth Branagh and Cillian Murphy. Opening as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops find themselves surrounded by enemy forces in the Northern French City during 1940, they face an impossible situation, trapped on the beach with the sea at their backs, as the German troops close in. A quickly assembled British fleet led the legendary evacuation of over 300,000 Allied military forces in what Prime Minister Winston Churchill would call a "miracle of deliverance." Adults £40
