We are thrilled to announce the East of the River premiere screening of the acclaimed documentary 'BLACK ZOMBIE' by @mayaannik
Join us FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23RD for this special screening and discussion at Honfleur Gallery in Anacostia!
🎥About 'BLACK ZOMBIE' Long before it became associated with flesh-eating ghouls, the zombie was a living metaphor for slavery: not a monster, but the ultimate victim of colonial power. From the flickering screens of Hollywood horror, to the haunted cane fields of colonial Haiti, Black Zombie unearths the buried origins of the zombie, reclaiming it as a symbol of survival and spiritual resistance.
This event will be co-hosted by @dcblackgirlsfilmclub
