Vancouver Korean Book Festival: A Conversation with Sang Young Park

As part of this year's Vancouver Korean Book Festival, the library is hosting a special conversation with Sang Young Park, internationally acclaimed Korean author of Love in the Big City and one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Korean literature. With wit, honesty, and keen observation, Love in the Big City explores love, queer identity, friendship, family, and belonging against the vibrant backdrop of contemporary Seoul. This internationally celebrated novel has reached readers around the world through translation and has also been adapted for both film and television. Sang Young Park will appear in conversation with UBC Professor Ho-Jung Choi. -- Please note: this conversation will be in Korean with automatically generated captions in English projected on screen. We will also have an interpreter for key discussions and the Q&A session. This event is presented in partnership with the the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Vancouver. -- Sang Young Park is one of the most distinctive and celebrated voices in contemporary Korean literature. He was longlisted for the International Booker Prize in 2022 and is a recipient of the prestigious Young Writers' Award. Dr. Ho-Jung Choi is an Associate Professor of Teaching in the Department of Asian Studies at the University of British Columbia (UBC).
