The Italian Cultural Institute of São Paulo and the São Paulo Photography Festival present a partnership dedicated to contemporary Italian photography in May 2026. Programming takes place between Unibes Cultural and the IICSP headquarters, featuring exhibitions, lectures and free workshops.
Italian photographer Elena Givone, whose work spans Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America, participates with the lecture "Territories of Dreaming" on May 24 at the Unibes Cultural auditorium, discussing creative processes in diverse social contexts. On May 23, she leads the workshop "Dreams," inviting children, youth and adults to transform desires, memories and fantasies into images using fabrics, symbolic objects and light.
The exhibition "Ways of Seeing" at the Unibes Cultural gallery brings together fifteen Italian photographers based in Brazil or Italy, selected through an open call. Without a single theme, it celebrates the aesthetic and conceptual plurality of contemporary photography, presenting documentary, experimental, intimate and poetic works. Photographer Filippo Ferraro was awarded a trip to Brazil.
Elena Givone's exhibition "Territories of Dreaming," curated by João Kulcsár, opens at the Italian Cultural Institute of São Paulo on May 26. The show presents a retrospective of projects realized across different parts of the world, including photographs produced in Brazil, revealing narratives shaped by imagination, desire and the power of dreaming as resistance and transformation.
