Free International Workshop | Theater and Community – Sentimental Archaeology of a Territory

Dates: August 17–28, 2026, Monday to Friday, 19h30 to 22h30, at Unidade Roosevelt. This workshop develops participants' awareness of artistic and human function within community through performative exercises. Each piece, approximately 9 minutes long, combines composition, movement, sound score, scenic space design, and costume/props. Work is grounded in "Sentimental Archaeology of a Territory," treating territory as the community itself—its stories, tensions, and everyday lived experience. Facilitator: Rui Germano, Portuguese theater director, master's degree in theater and community, and founder of Associação Cultural Beleza Teatro. Longtime partner of SP Escola Superior de Teatro, he works as educator and artist in international exchange projects. His practice emphasizes collaborative methodologies and creative processes rooted in memory, personal experience, and the relationship between art and community, producing scenic encounters that foster cultural exchange across different territories. Audience: Theater students and those interested in the subject matter, 18 and over, without restriction. Selection: 35 places, based on CV review and statement of interest.
