When the film was screened in Singapore in 1962, its captivating folk melodies became cherished memories for generations of audiences. More than six decades later, these timeless songs return to Singapore in a vibrant new form.Artists from China and Singapore come together to reimagine the beloved folk songs through the multicultural influences of Singapore and Southeast Asia. Born from life and sung from the heart, the production celebrates sincerity, wisdom and courage, while expressing a shared hope for a better life—bringing fresh emotion and resonance to audiences across cultures and generations.
