About the Workshop
This 2-day intensive is for experienced improvisers who are looking to level up on their fundamentals and make great scenes. Do you find that, after a great start, your scenes wander aimlessly and lack that bite? We will work on your complete skillset, making your moves bolder and your choices sharper. You will get personal feedback on how to continue becoming a great improviser.
We will focus on techniques for longform improvisation for both Narrative and Game of the Scene, being an actor from inside the scene with a director’s eye from the outside. We will go through classic forms such as the Harold, Living Room, Close Quarters, Pretty Flower, Hero’s Journey and what the key skills are for each form. On the second day we design together a show that makes you and your team’s star shines the brightest.
You can attend this workshop individually or come in as a team to work on a format you are developing.

About the Teacher
Aree Witoelar is a Norwegian-Indonesian improv teacher and neuroscientist with 21 years of experience in improv comedy and theatre. He is the artistic director of Oslo Impro Festival and founder of Impro Neuf International, Norway’s most inclusive improv community. His style has been mentioned as mischievous, smart, versatile, and authentic to his cultural roots. Aree has taught improv in 25 countries, from Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, India, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, UK, USA to Vietnam. He is keen to travel for improv and food. His mission is to make improv a global artform for anyone from any culture.
