The Liacouras Center, owned and operated by Temple University, is hosting the animal-abusing "8 Seconds Rodeo" this fall. The rodeo promotes animal abuse with featured events including "mutton busting" where humans, sometimes children, compete for prize money by climbing onto the backs of terrified sheep for a minimum of 8 seconds. Sheep are docile prey animals that experience immense terror when chased, restrained in a chute, and forced to carry a human while crowds scream.
Please join us to promote animal kindness, not animal cruelty, in protest of this event. More details to follow along with other actions to help end the rodeo in Philadelphia.
