Kenealy Nature Park to Henry Lane Park to Saunders Woods to Riverbend EEC
About the event
\~8.5 to 9 miles \~1200 elevation moderate to brisk pace varied by terrain We begin on the Ridge Trail with a nice view of Turtle Hollow, a small waterfall (we'll stop there at the end), and a creek that runs through the park. We take that along the ridge overlooking the creek to the Bridlewild Trail which takes us on a loop. From there we proceed to Henry Lane Park, hike through there to another loop at Saunders Woods Preserve. After that we hike back through Henry Lane to Kenealy on the Windsor Trail, which has a few small water crossings, and take the Sid Thayer Zig Zag Trail along a ridge that overlooks the Schuylkill River (sadly with traffic noise from I76), which is still quite scenic including a section of bamboo forest. We take that ridge to Riverbend Environmental Education Center for lunch where the bathrooms are closed on the weekend. After lunch we hike back along that ridge to the parking lot. Just before we finish we'll stop at Turtle Hollow, the cute mini-waterfall we saw from above in the beginning. The trail is only a bit rocky in the beginning, mostly will be dirt so might be muddy. Rain or snow will cancel as they close the trails due to steepness and erosion so please check the morning of if there's potential for that. Bring food, water, and poles if you want.
