Let's Go Sailing & BYOB Picnic
About the event
Let's go sailing aboard *Zephyra*! No sailing experience needed!
Zephyra is Sailing Seattle's newest racing sailboat, a 70-foot high-performance ocean racing sailboat. She is named after the Greek mythological west wind and the historical Puget Sound steamer *Zephyr.* This beauty has some notable races dating back to 1995!
• 1st to Finish – Transpac 1995 (Los Angeles → Honolulu) as *Cheval* • 1st to Finish – Pacific Cup 2000 (San Francisco → Kaneohe) as *Pegasus* • 1st to Finish – Cape Town to Rio 2017 (Cape Town, South Africa → Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) as *Runaway* • 1st to Finish in Division – Transpac 2017 as *Runaway* • 3rd Overall – RORC Caribbean 600 2017 (Antigua) as *Runaway*
I am personally loving racing and sailing in SLU, the Sound, and the Bay so getting to sail on this 70-foot beauty is a dream. We are looking to book a 2-hour daytime sail on Sunday, September 20th, departing from Shilshole Bay Marina where I have heard parking is *better* than other marinas. We will get to see the Olympic Mountains, the Seattle skyline (duh), Bainbridge Island, and maybe even Mt Rainier on a clear day. We will be sailing past Golden Gardens Park where we might see seals, sealions or sea birds.
This event is BYOB (beer, wine, whiskey, chai, cheese, charcuterie, sandwiches, sliders, parathas, hummus, you wanna eat it, you CAN bring it!) so I will be bringing some non-alcoholic beverages to share. From my experience sailing, I like my food and drinks put in boxes or bottles where I can cover them again in case the sailboat starts heeling.
RSVP'D does NOT mean your ticket is reserved. You will have to reserve your own ticket to join on [SailingSeattle.com](https://www-14o.bookeo.com/bookeo/b_sailingseattle_start.html?ctlsrc2=B7vvsDiTA4EXxRtm4ul%2FNHP5BQBdNcounj1WmA0WzGA%3D&src=01c&category=214XEC3XC198423529C1). Please ensure you choose September 20 at 2:30 pm. If there's more than 10 people who RSVP'D, I will have to call to buy but we will cross that bridge when we get there. I may open up more spots if interest is high.
Dress warm, bring sunnies, hats, sunscreen, your favorite food and drinks, and your excitement!
