Following sold-out festival screenings, standing ovations and a Kanna for Best Comedy at KKNK 2026, BEST OF ALL TIME returns – this time with an unexpected, delightfully quirky twist.
Ané Koegelenberg and Christie van Niekerk's award-winning sketch comedy examines what it means to be Afrikaner in the 21st century under the microscope. From pop music and pyramid schemes to table prayers, dog names, culture and all the strange habits we'd rather not acknowledge out loud – nothing is sacred and no one is safe. With sharp satire, original music, energetic dance and absurd characters, BEST OF ALL TIME is a celebration of everything that makes us laugh, cringe and recognise ourselves.
The production is one of the most awarded new comedies on the Afrikaans stage: nominated in 2025 for the Kanna for Best Comedy and Best Lightning Theatre, and winner of the Kanna for Best Comedy in 2026 and also nominated for Best Ensemble. (Klein Karoo National Arts Festival)
On 4 and 5 September, Cape Town Theatre House transforms into a quirky festival celebration when these two performances also serve as the official launch party for Koegelenberg and Van Niekerk's brand new solo show: "Tappit, Pyl, Kommin, Zef". Expect an evening full of satire, hilarious sketches, original music, surprises and enough quirky energy to blow the roof off. This is not just a theatre performance – it's an experience.
