West Beach (Film) Festival
About the event
On the shores of the Sloterplas, this year's theme is 'Surrealism'. During the free West Beach Film Festival, you can watch films from a beach chair or hammock, alongside art, music, workshops, and neighbourhood activities. The first announced film is Tim Burton's 'Alice in Wonderland'. Location and entrance
Admission: The West Beach (Film) Festival aims to be accessible to everyone, and therefore admission is free. A pay-as-you-like principle is used; anyone who wishes can make a voluntary contribution at the door or via the website. Please arrive on time, as capacity is limited. In case of rain, the films will be screened in a tent. Young people under the age of 16 are welcome accompanied by an adult.
Once again this year, there is plenty to experience at the West Beach Film Festival. The program is not yet known, but you can expect an inspiring mix of new films, activities, workshops, and collaborations with local makers, neighborhood initiatives, and cultural organizations. Just like last year, but completely fresh and full of new magic.
Accessibility and opening hours
Check the website for the exact opening hours and program, as these vary from day to day. The films end between 23:00 and midnight. Due to limited parking space in the area, it is best to come by bicycle or public transport. The beach is a 5-minute walk from the terminus of tram 7. Also nearby: the Röellstraat stop for tram 13 and bus 69.
This year, too, there is a daily film screening and a varied program featuring art disciplines such as music, theater, culinary arts, spoken word, visual arts, and more. Don't forget to visit the social media and the website for the very latest information.
