Lesesalon – Silent Reading in Many Languages 📚☕
About the event
Do you love reading but rarely find the time to sit down with a book? Or do you miss the quiet pleasure of reading surrounded by other people who love books just as much as you do? Then the Lesesalon is for you! Every second Sunday of the month, Metis Books & Café turns into a reading room. Bring your book, in whatever language you're reading it: German, English, Italian, Spanish, French, Catalan, Arabic, Japanese… every language is welcome, and part of the magic is sitting next to someone reading in a completely different one. How it works We read together in silence for one hour, and whoever wants can keep going a little longer. Phones away, cosy corner, a good book and a cup of coffee: a dedicated moment just for you and your reading. After that, we move on to the *sobremesa*, a lovely Spanish word for the time spent lingering at the table after a meal, chatting and sharing. We talk about what we're reading, swap recommendations, discover new authors and titles, and get to know each other. Chatting is entirely optional: you're equally welcome to simply enjoy the quiet reading hour. Coffee, breakfast & tiramisù Our café serves coffee and breakfast throughout the morning, and since it's Sunday, our homemade tiramisù is waiting for you too. 🍰 Who is this for? Everyone who enjoys reading: regular readers, people who want to get back into the habit, newcomers to Berlin looking for a friendly and relaxed way to meet like-minded people, and anyone curious to discover what the rest of the world is reading. Entry is free. We're a small independent bookshop and café, so we're always happy when you order something in the salon. ❤️ 📍 Metis Books & Café Gleimstraße 21, 10437 Berlin (Prenzlauer Berg) We look forward to reading with you!
