Exactly fifty years ago, The Band's legendary farewell concert took place at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. An evening celebrated with numerous musical friends of The Band, such as Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, and Eric Clapton. A musical celebration immortalized in Martin Scorsese's famous film The Last Waltz. Tonight, Rotterdam's Dawn Brothers and their musical friends bring The Last Waltz to the Grote Zaal. 50 Years The Last Waltz is a unique evening celebrating a legendary concert with the energy and urgency of today. An evening you won't want to miss! This concert is amplified. More information is on this page. Jazz and pop music It goes without saying that The Concertgebouw and jazz & pop music make a perfect combination. The stages of both the Main Hall and the Recital Hall have borne witness to nearly the whole of jazz history. Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald have both performed here, as have Miles Davis and Louis Armstrong. Famous pop stars and bands that have graced the stage of the Main Hall include Frank Zappa, the Doors and the Eagles, to name but a few. Legendary concerts, in the present as well as the past.
