Tatjana is an Amsterdam woman who doesn't really feel at home anywhere. She lives in a notorious neighborhood of Amsterdam, her teenage son is ashamed of her Slavic accent, and she herself doesn't quite know who she is. To find an answer to the question of where she belongs, she picks up her camera and travels through Europe.
People who took their roots with them or left them behind
Along the way, Tatjana visits friends and family who have settled somewhere as guest workers or expats. She meets people who have physically moved but never truly left their village. And others who have fully embraced their new life. Two old German sisters holding hands and finding their existence in each other make a deep impression.
A family secret that puts everything in a new light
When Tatjana visits her father, she stumbles upon something she had not expected. What she discovers there changes her perspective on her own life. Her existence turns out not to be uprooted, but the result of something that originated from love long ago.
