Amsterdam House of Arts & Crafts is a creative studio in the heart of Amsterdam, where you can learn, make and experiment. We offer a wide range of workshops and courses throughout the week, from ceramics and leatherwork to mosaics, upcycling, painting and more. Whether you're a complete beginner or already have experience, there's always something new to discover.
Pottery Wheel Workshop Have you ever wanted to try working with clay on a real pottery wheel? During this hands-on workshop, you'll create your own pot, bowl, cup or unique ceramic form while learning the basics of wheel throwing.
After a short introduction to clay, tools and techniques, you'll get straight to work. You'll learn how to centre the clay, open it up and gradually shape it on the wheel. An experienced instructor will guide you step by step while you discover your own rhythm and way of working.
No previous experience is required. The focus is not on making something perfect, but on learning, experimenting and enjoying the process of working with clay.
What happens to your piece? Your work will stay at the studio after the workshop to dry and receive its first, biscuit firing. This takes around 2–3 weeks. You can then collect your piece or join one of our glazing workshops to give it colour and a finished surface.
