Happy Horror Hour - Video Game Horror ☠️ 🎮 👾
About the event
For decades, horror games have dared us to open doors we know we should leave closed. This time, we’re pressing START on nearly four decades of horror movies that brought video games from our consoles and computers to the big screen. Nowadays, the line between video games and movies has become increasingly blurred, but both have been borrowing from one another for decades, looking for ways to make us dread what’s waiting around the next corner, or just outside our field of view. We will journey through the evolution of video game horror, beginning with 1989’s Japanese horror film Sweet Home, the Japanese haunted house film released alongside its own game, that would go on to inspire Resident Evil. From there, we will explore the wonderfully campy early-2000s adaptations and land in the modern era, where a movie version of a hit horror game feels less like a gamble and more like an inevitability.
Whether you know the halls of the Hive by heart or you’ve never picked up a controller in your life, every movie on this list plays the same way: someone else takes the damage and the rest of us get to watch.

*HOW HAPPY HORROR HOUR WORKS*
Before the event …
• Watch the movies from the Watch List at home on your own. We do not watch movies at the actual event. Think of it like a book club. It's not a requirement to watch all the movies on the Watch List to attend. However, watching at least a few is highly encouraged as you'll have a lot more fun during the discussion. • If you have content sensitivities, you can look up movies on [doesthedogdie.com](http://doesthedogdie.com) and/or [unconsentingmedia.org](http://unconsentingmedia.org) to review warnings. • Keep your RSVP up-to-date. If you can't make it out, update your RSVP at least 24 hours beforehand. If there is a waitlist, attendance will be taken and "no shows" will be marked.
At the event …
• We’re a friendly welcoming bunch and we love new folks! 😍 • Please purchase something (even if just a soda) while you’re at the restaurant. They’re running a business but being super awesome by giving us a space to meet for free. Also, please tip our servers. We’re a big bunch to wrangle.
