On September 12 and 13, 2026, various monuments in Amsterdam will open their doors for free for Open Monument Day. Discover the architectural heritage during the 40th edition. Step inside 50 Amsterdam monuments. This year is extra special because it is the 40th edition. The program features highlights from previous years as well as other iconic locations. Think of the first skyscraper, hotels, canal houses with exclusive interiors, old bank buildings, and depots. From classic canal houses to new monuments.
About Open Monument Day Amsterdam
Open Monument Day is a national event during which a huge number of monuments throughout the Netherlands are opened to the public. In Amsterdam, including Weesp, various locations can be visited. There is something to do or experience at every location. With a surprising evening program on Saturday featuring film, electronic sounds, and stargazing!
A few highlights from the varied program:
Visit the iconic Amstel Hotel and learn more about the first 19th-century masseur,
Admire the impressive Moorish-style bathroom in the NIOD on the Herengracht,
Listen to award-winning spoken word poet Zaïre Krieger in Huis met de Hoofden (Embassy of the Free Mind),
Or take a look inside the newly renovated industrial hall of the Van Gendt Hallen,
