About the event

We are hosting another "Super Night" on Tuesday, 8th September 2026.

We will hear from:

Greg Low will discuss Single vs Multi-tenanted Databases for Software as a Service Applications: Designing a SaaS application means making an early decision about how tenant data should be stored and that decision can have long-term consequences for security, cost, performance, operations, recovery, and compliance.

In this session, Greg will explore trade-offs between shared multi-tenant databases, separate databases per tenant, and hybrid approaches. You’ll see how factors such as isolation, noisy neighbours, scalability, tenant-specific requirements, DevOps, recovery, and data sovereignty influence the design, and learn how to build an architecture that can evolve as tenants and requirements change..

Brad Coles will talk about Liquid Clustering in Fabric: Every large table in Microsoft Fabric ends up spread across many files. If those files aren't organised in any particular order, every query has to dig through far more of them than it should, slowing pipelines and costing money.

Liquid Clustering keeps related data grouped together in the same files, so a query only touches the ones that matter. Until Fabric Runtime 2.0, the open-source technology underneath it had a real flaw, one that made it not worth using at all. Now that it's fixed, is it worth turning on for your Delta tables?

This talk is a practical walkthrough for anyone working with or around data in Fabric, no deep data-engineering background needed. We'll start with the fundamentals for anyone newer to the space, then get into how Liquid Clustering actually works and how Runtime 2.0 fixed its biggest flaw. From there: which tables benefit, which don't, and how to pick the right columns to organise by..

Come and share pizza, great conversation and free learning.

Schedule: 5.30-6.00 Pizza and Networking 6.00-7.30 Interactive sessions
