Have you ever attended an exchange event only to end up with the same kind of self-introductions every time?
At this exchange event, we enjoy naturally deeper conversations while exploring language and ways of thinking through a single book.
We read passages from the book, think about the meaning of words together, and learn by teaching each other unfamiliar vocabulary.
Beginners are very welcome.
Let's enjoy not just "speaking," but also "thinking together."
Location: Café Nue (near Umeda Station, Osaka)
Participation fee: 1,000 yen + one drink order
※Staff will take orders at each table. Please keep the receipt given after your drink arrives until the end of the event!
Flow of the day
1 Check-in and seating — Check in via QR code → proceed to your assigned seat. Self-introduction is "name only" (no age, occupation, or contact information)
2 Reading time — Read the summary quietly with your partner
3 Deepening language time — Teach each other words in Japanese and Korean, complete the vocabulary list
4 Theme talk — Freely discuss the passage you read
5 Change seats — New passage, new person, new conversation
6 Change seats + free talk — Put the book aside and mingle freely. Age and occupation topics are now open for discussion!
7 Change seats + sharing time — Share a passage that stayed with you today
This event's book
『I Want to Die, But I Want to Eat Tteokbokki』
A bestselling essay in Korea, written based on a dialogue between the author and a psychiatrist.
Written in candid language about worries that everyone has experienced at least once—anxiety, self-worth, relationships, happiness, and more.
At this exchange event, we read passages from the book together, learn about the meaning and expressions of words, and freely share our own feelings and thoughts.
※You don't need to have read the book beforehand; anyone can participate.
⚠️ For emergency contact on the day, please use Instagram DM.
