Book Club 1st Anniversary Picnic
About the event
We’re celebrating the first anniversary of our book club with a casual picnic at Villa Torlonia, right after our monthly discussion of *The Handmaid’s Tale*. This event is open to all book club members, as well as your partners, friends, children, dogs, and other loved ones. Everyone is welcome!
After our discussion, we’ll stay at the park and spend some time together in a more relaxed setting, with food, drinks, and hopefully some good weather. Some food and drinks will be provided, but I also invite everyone who’d like to contribute to bring along whatever they want to eat or drink.
The idea is to have a chance to talk about things other than books (although we can still talk about books), socialise, and get to know each other — and the people who are part of our lives — outside our usual book discussion setting.
I’m also hoping to have some book club merch available at the picnic: T-shirts, notebooks, tote bags, and stickers. Just as a reminder, this isn’t a business, and I’m not making any profit from the merch. I’ll only be asking for the original cost of each item. It’s really just something for us: a way to carry the book club with us, spread the message a little, and celebrate the community we’ve created together.
I hope many of you can make it and that we can spend a few hours together, properly celebrating this first year of the club.
