20/09 – PAINTING ON GLASS: CAPTURING SUMMER MEMORIES
About the event
Maybe there is one small image from this summer that you don’t want to lose yet. Not the whole holiday. Just one detail. A flower. A lake. A window. A place. Something ordinary that somehow stayed with you.
On 20 September, visual artist Laila Seidel will guide a small group at ATMA through the technique of reverse glass painting. Bring one photograph with a simple, clearly defined subject.
You’ll use it as inspiration for a painting on a small glass panel, learning step by step how the technique works. Reverse glass painting changes the usual order of painting: the image is built on the back of the glass, so details and layers have to be created differently. Only at the end do you turn the glass around and see the finished image from the front. No previous painting experience is needed. The group is limited to five participants, which gives Laila time to work individually with everyone. You’ll leave with your own finished piece.
