Join us for a relaxing hike and language exchange at beautiful Capilano River Regional Park in North Vancouver!

We will explore forest trails, enjoy views of Cleveland Dam and Capilano Lake, walk along the Capilano River canyon, and visit scenic areas such as Second Canyon Viewpoint and the Capilano Salmon Hatchery.

This is a friendly social event for people who want to enjoy nature, meet new people, and practice English and Japanese in a relaxed atmosphere. Beginners and first-time participants are very welcome!

Event Details

📍 Meeting Point: Cleveland Dam – near the parking lot / park entrance 🥾 Difficulty: Beginner-friendly to moderate 🕒 Estimated Duration: Approximately 2–3 hours

Please arrive on time so that we can begin the hike together as a group.

What We Will Do

• Enjoy the views from Cleveland Dam and Capilano Lake • Explore Capilano River Regional Park’s forest trails • Walk through beautiful Douglas-fir and cedar forests • Visit scenic areas such as Second Canyon Viewpoint • Visit the Capilano Salmon Hatchery area • Enjoy views of the Capilano River and canyon • Practice English and Japanese • Meet new people • Take photos and enjoy nature • Take breaks and walk at a comfortable group pace

The exact route may be adjusted depending on trail conditions, weather, and the group’s pace.

Optional Japanese Dinner After the Hike 🍣🍜

After the hike, those who are interested are welcome to join us for Japanese food together!

We will likely go to a Japanese restaurant somewhere in North Vancouver or Downtown Vancouver, depending on the group size and everyone’s preference.

Dinner is completely optional, so feel free to join only the hike.

Each participant will be responsible for their own food and drinks.

It will be another great opportunity to relax, enjoy some Japanese food, continue our conversations, and get to know each other after the hike!

What to Bring

• Comfortable hiking or walking shoes • Water • Snacks or a light lunch • Weather-appropriate clothing • Sunscreen and a hat, if needed • A light rain jacket, depending on the weather • A change of clothes, if needed

River Safety Notice

The Capilano River can be dangerous because water levels and currents may change unexpectedly.

Swimming and wading in the Capilano River are not permitted.

Please stay on designated trails, follow all posted signs and safety instructions, and keep a safe distance from the river.

If you hear an emergency alarm or siren near the river, move away from the river area immediately and follow official instructions.

• This is a social community event, not a professionally guided hiking tour. • Please stay with the group and follow the organizers’ instructions. • Please respect other participants, park visitors, wildlife, and the natural environment. • Participation is at your own risk. • Please do not leave any garbage behind. • Trails may be wet, muddy, slippery, steep, or uneven in some areas. • The route may be adjusted depending on trail conditions, weather, and the group’s pace. • The event may be cancelled or rescheduled in case of severe weather or unsafe conditions. • This event takes place at Capilano River Regional Park and does not include admission to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park.
