The Healing Woods of Monsanto: A Journey of Nature’s Renewal
About the event
Before Monsanto became the lush green lung of Lisbon, it was a desolate, windswept hill. Centuries of over-farming, quarrying, and firewood cutting had stripped the land bare down to its stone skeleton. But in the 1930s, a visionary project began: thousands of trees were planted by hand to bring life back to the barren slopes. Today, those saplings have grown into a majestic, thriving ecosystem—a living testimony to the land’s power to heal and regenerate.
Join us on Saturday, October 24, for our final walk of the season before our winter break in Italy.
Together, we will walk gentle forest paths, pause under the autumn canopy to attune to the shifting energy of the woods, and reflect on what it means to rebuild, restore, and bloom after times of exhaustion.
This walk is not about logging miles, building speed, or pushing fitness. It is an unhurried invitation to slow down, breathe deeply, listen to the old stories of the land, and share warm, meaningful connection in the woods.
See you in the woods of Monsanto!
