About the event
Escape the rush of the city and immerse yourself in an incredible, high-impact 26-kilometre panoramic journey across the rolling spine of the Chilterns National Landscape. Curated specifically for lovers of sweeping landscapes, ridge climbing, and unique route geometry. We gather in the morning at London Euston at 8:20 AM to catch our train down to Tring which leaves Euston at 8:39 AM, stepping off the platforms and after a quick briefing and warm up session, we immediately hit the historic paths to begin our assault on the ridges. The Scenic Highlights: Viewpoints & Iconic Landmarks ⢠Tring Park & Wigginton Ridge: Wander through historic estate woodlands and open parkland as we scale the southern loop of the route. ⢠Grand Union Canal Towpath: Follow the peaceful, flat waters of the canal near Parkhill Bridge before launching into the high scarp. ⢠Pitstone Hill & Ivinghoe Beacon Hill Summit: Conquer the high, exposed chalk ridges of Beacon Hill (233 m) for spectacular 360-degree vantage points over the Aylesbury Vale overlooking the White Lion of Whipsnade Zoo. ⢠Historic Aldbury Village: Descend into one of the most picturesque timber-framed villages in Hertfordshire, complete with its historic stocks and village duck pond. Unknown š„¾ The Flow of our Day We will start our hike from Tring Station at around 09:30 AM with a briefing for the day and a warm-up exercise before we hit the trail. Our mid-hike lunch stop is perfectly positioned right on the grassy crest of the ridge lineāallowing us to relax, chat, and refuel with a massive landscape unfolding right in front of us. From there, we keep our technical momentum going through rolling chalk paths, eventual valley descents, and historical scarp passes until our circular route is beautifully complete back at Tring. To celebrate a magnificent day out in nature, we will finish by dropping into a wonderful, classic country pub near the end of our trail for an optional, well-deserved cold drink and a chat. š„ Who is this Hike For?
