Indigenous Peoples' Day walk along Shoal Creek
About the event
Join us for a 7 mile easy-paced walk along Shoal Creek and thru the Rosedale and Oakmont neighborhoods. We will pass thru the ancestral and unceded homelands of [indigenous peoples](https://www.youarehereatx.org/indigenous-peoples-in-austin/) such as Coahuiltecans, Tonkawa, Comanche, and others, as well as the site of the Seiders Springs [Massacre](https://www.brykerwoods.org/seider-springs/). We'll take a short break at Pease Park with water and restrooms, and have a short group discussion toward the end. It's possible to depart from the group and make a shorter route on your own if desired.
Afterwards we often gather for lunch.
Participants must sign a Liability Waiver at the trailhead. You may view the waiver document: [https://tinyurl.com/SCSignUpSheet2020](https://tinyurl.com/SCSignUpSheet2020).
If not already a member, we encourage you to join the [Sierra Club](http://sierraclub.org/texas/austin) (the national club, not just the Meetup group) and help protect the environment and our democracy.
