This week's concerts features Arthur Chapelle, joined by trombonist Lezaam Beets, trumpeter Romain Gachot, bassist Seb Overell and drummer Florian Marka.Arthur Chapelle is an emerging voice of a new generation of jazz musicians. His music draws on his knowledge of the jazz tradition, his cultural heritage and the sound of his own generation, crossing freely between genres. By the age of 10, Arthur was already performing at l'Olympia and the Accor Arena in France. After high school he moved to Amsterdam to study at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Jesse van Ruller, Ben van Gelder and Reinier Baas – who played the Brokers Bar stage in September.
Playing alongside Arthur are four other [Amsterdam-based] musicians. rombonist Lezaam Beets has played with New Cool Collective, the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw and the Dutch Youth Jazz Orchestra (NJJO), and has taken his own music to North Sea Jazz and Super-Sonic Jazz Festival. French trumpeter Romain Gachot finished his studies in Strasbourg before settling in Amsterdam to move his playing closer to jazz, and his versatility has made him at home in Dutch ensembles such as NJJO, Polynation and Sage. Behind them, Scottish bassist Seb Overell took pre-bachelor courses in Basel under Larry Grenadier, and drummer Florian Marka studied jazz in his hometown of Bordeaux, before both joined the Conservatorium in Amsterdam.
The concert starts at 20:30 and the jam session at 22:30! Bring your instruments or your voice and meet other musicians and jazz enjoyers!
