About the event

A rapturous carnival of colour, cinematographer Nic Roeg was let loose creatively on this atmospheric spin on yet another Poe story, this time with an impressive script by Charles Beaumont and R. Wright Campbell. Jane Asher and Hazel Court, who play the female leads, are particularly convincing in their respective but very different roles, while Price once again provides a masterclass in playing to the genre’s strengths. Restored by the Academy Film Archive and The Film Foundation, with funding provided by the Hobson/Lucas Family Foundation. Screen: NFT2. Screening details: 4K Restoration.
