About the event

We spend more time picking a coffee than looking at a painting. That's not a metaphor — the average museum visitor gives a masterpiece less than thirty seconds before moving to the next one. This session is about staying past those thirty seconds. Not "doing the museum," not collecting rooms — just a handful of extraordinary works and enough time to actually be in front of them. You don't need to know anything about art history. Genuinely nothing. The only requirement is attention, and I promise that's harder and more interesting than it sounds.

We'll spend time with:

Raphael's *La Fornarina*, Caravaggio's *Judith Beheading Holofernes*, Filippo Lippi's *Annunciation*, Holbein's *Henry VIII*, and — if we get lucky with the light — Pietro da Cortona's ceiling, honestly the best argument for "how to look at art" I know. *(4–6 works, final list depends on what's on view that day)*

How this works:

We meet at 16:00 right at the entrance — a few minutes to say hi and set expectations for the afternoon. At 16:15 we go in together and spend about 45 minutes with the works, moving as a group, with space to talk as we go. Around 17:00 you get 15 minutes on your own — bathroom, one more look at something that caught your eye. At 17:15 we head out to a lovely Rooftop bar (Spritzeria Barberini - to be confirmed), three minutes away, for about an hour of drinks and reflection — unpacking what came up, comparing notes, actually talking through the paintings, the artists, the history. Total time: about 2.5 hours, start to finish.

A note on what this is (and isn't):

I'm not a licensed guide. I won't be walking you through art history or filling silence with dates and facts. My role is to facilitate — to ask questions that help you drop into the moment and notice what's happening in you, not just in the painting. What catches your eye first, before you've thought about why. What you feel before you start interpreting. The stories and the context come later, over aperitivo, once we've actually looked. By the end you'll probably remember only three or four paintings — but you'll actually remember them, not just recognize them in a book later.

Cost:

€15, paid on the spot at the beginning, covers the organizing — planning, coordination, facilitating the group. Museum entry is free (first Sunday of the month). Aperitivo is on your own budget, €10+.

Joining:

Groups are capped at 5–10 people, on purpose — small enough that everyone actually gets to talk. Once you're in, you'll be added to a WhatsApp group for this specific event, for logistics and any last-minute questions.

Cancellations:

Life happens — if something comes up, let me know in the WhatsApp group as soon as you can, so I can offer your spot to someone else. No penalties, just a heads-up so the group stays real.
