Classical guitar ensemble music moves across centuries and cultures in a series of concerts presented by the FIU Wertheim School of Music. The FIU Miami GuitART Orchestra performs Wednesday, November 11, Thursday, February 18 and Wednesday, April 14 at the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim School of Music & Performing Arts. Directed by guitarist and composer Mesut Özgen, the ensemble explores repertoire spanning Baroque works, modern compositions and musical traditions from around the world.
The concerts highlight the range of the guitar orchestra format, bringing multiple players together in arrangements that emphasize texture, rhythm and the instrument’s expressive versatility. The programs connect classical repertoire with global sounds through the perspective of FIU’s student and faculty music community.
