Luminary Exhibition Celebration—Mary Cassatt: After Impressionism
About the event
After training in Philadelphia, in 1877 she made the daring decision to join the French Impressionists—the only American to exhibit with them. It was in the years following the eighth and final Impressionist group show in 1886 that Cassatt produced some of her most innovative—and now celebrated—compositions. Mary Cassatt: After Impressionism examines her paintings, pastels, and prints of this pivotal period when she took her art making in new directions.
Luminary are invited to join curator Annelise K. Madsen to celebrate this fiercely independent female maker and delve into the ambitious work Cassatt created in the prime of her career. Begin the evening with curatorial insights, then enjoy an after-hours exhibition viewing and reception with bites and beverages.
Open exclusively to Luminary members, this event requires advance registration. Please note that this event occurs when the museum is closed to the public, and registered guests will be provided entry instructions in advance of the program.
