🎬 Palestine 36: In 1936, as the British Empire tightens its grip on Palestine, journalist Yusuf navigates a divided Jerusalem where truth collides with censorship, while his friend Khalid joins the growing resistance. Amid an anti-colonial uprising and the arrival of Jewish refugees fleeing persecution in Europe, colliding ideals erupt into armed conflict between Palestinian freedom fighters and British officers. Palestine 36 captures the birth of Palestinian emancipation through the eyes of ordinary people fighting for autonomy and survival. Directed by Annemarie Jacir (Wajib), this ambitious epic premiered at TIFF and is Palestine's Oscar submission, starring Hiam Abbass, Saleh Bakri, Jeremy Irons and Liam Cunningham.
