
Ceramics: beginner wheel throwing and handbuilding (Mondays)
About the event
Learn the basics of working with clay in this comprehensive 8-week course. Our expert tutor will guide you in building your skills, so that you can construct ceramic forms both at the wheel and using hand build techniques. You’ll create functional vessels and will expand your knowledge of techniques such as pressing, coiling and slab building. You’ll also learn how to apply slips, glazes, and other surface treatments This course takes place on Monday's over 8 weeks. Week 1: Monday 19 October from 10am to 12:30pm Week 2: Monday 26 October from 10am to 12:30pm Week 3: Monday 2 November from 10am to 12:30pm Week 4: Monday 9 November from 10am to 12:30pm Week 5: Monday 16 November from 10am to 12:30pm Week 6: Monday 23 November from 10am to 12:30pm Week 7: Monday 30 November from 10am to 12:30pm Week 8: Monday 7 December from 10am to 12:30pm Your works will be fired and ready to collect around 4 weeks after the course. We are unable to fire pieces made outside of the course. Level: designed for beginner level students Wear: comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes (trousers recommended) Bring: please bring your own apron and towel The ticket purchaser must hold a valid concession card.
