EHBO ft. Han Bennink, Benjamin Herman, Ernst Glerum & Oscar Jan Hoogland
About the event
This already iconic quartet at the Bimhuis showcases pure improvisation from across the generations. Its debut was last year: the First Aid Quartet formed during the Han Bennink Four Days Marches at the Roode Bioscoop and subsequently toured various venues, including the Bimhuis. Top-notch improvisation. Second edition
The second edition was inevitable: the same musicians, but guaranteed different music. The lineup once again consists of Han Bennink (drums), Ernst Glerum (bass), Benjamin Herman (saxophone), and Oscar Jan Hoogland (piano). Han Bennink, known for collaborations with greats like Dexter Gordon and Sonny Rollins, and co-founder of the legendary Instant Composers Pool (ICP), forms the core of the quartet along with bassist Ernst Glerum. Saxophonist Benjamin Herman (New Cool Collective plus numerous projects as a bandleader) and pianist Oscar Jan Hoogland, a figurehead of the Amsterdam improv scene, complete the ensemble.
