ACE - Your Risk Register Isn't a Risk Register - It's a To-Do List Nobody Owns

Your risk dashboard shows green. Every asset has an owner. Every risk item has a status. None of it tells you who actually decided the risk your organization is carrying right now is acceptable.
Status fields get touched constantly. Ownership fields get filled in once, usually by whoever provisioned the system, and never looked at again. Two reorgs later, the "owner" of a critical asset has moved teams, and every risk linked to it still points at them anyway.
This is exactly where Jira Service Management customers live. Assets is the CMDB where this drift actually happens - the owner field on a cloud workload, a service, an application, sitting untouched while every linked risk ticket cycles through Open, In Progress, Mitigated, Closed. JSM already has what's needed to catch this: ownership change history, automation rules, reminder workflows. The gap isn't the tooling. It's that almost nobody points that tooling at ownership specifically - they configure it to track ticket status instead.
In this talk, Jussi Helminen walks through why that drift happens whenever ownership isn't reviewed on its own cadence, using a real-world-style walkthrough of exactly how a stale owner field turns a well-managed risk register into a dashboard that's accurate and useless at the same time. You'll leave with three concrete changes to how you use ownership fields, review cadences, and risk acceptance - built on capabilities Jira Service Management customers already have, just rarely configured for this. So your register actually answers the question it exists to answer: who decided, and do they still think so.
For existing Jira Service Management customers, this is a direct path to getting more value out of Assets without necessarily buying anything new - the fixes run on capability already sitting inside the platform. For prospects still evaluating JSM, it's a concrete answer to "what does Assets actually solve": not just asset tracking, but a structural fix to one of the least visible failure modes in risk management - ownership that looks assigned and isn't.
