Sparkle When You Speak - Wed Oct 14 (In Person + Online)
About the event
What better way to find your voice, than at this fun and instructive hybrid evening. (You always have the option to participate via Zoom.)
IF YOU'RE NEW TO SPEAK UP, See note below.
Tackle one of your biggest personal challenges and social anxieties - There simply is no better place to do it.
We'll not only show you how to speak effectively to a live audience; we'll help you improve your online presence, too.
First-time (and returning) guests enjoy our simple exercises and learn useful techniques for connecting with others.
Our meetups are fast-paced and engaging - Difficult enough to be challenging, but fun enough not to be intimidating. Experience it for yourself: You'll get to listen to prepared speeches and learn simple yet effective speaking tips.
We are a chapter of TOASTMASTERS International. We follow the time-tested Toastmasters curriculum, and throw in a few significant variations of our own.
You are invited (not required) to participate in our two-minute impromptu speaking exercises. Plus a 30-second Round Robin, where you'll introduce yourself (talk very briefly about an interest, or what brought you there).
Pretty basic. We have one requirement: enjoy yourself and get a sense of how the meetups run. They start promptly at 6:50, so please show up before 6:45. They end at 8:45 pm.
Who will you meet? People
• terrified of addressing a group • who have passed up promotions because of their fear • who want to feel more comfortable speaking at work • who want to tell a story.... or organize their thoughts + think on their feet • ready to find courage and tame their anxiety
As well as experienced speakers and evaluators to learn from.
** If you attend in person, there should be some "open" (no-permit) parking nearby. [See map link below] We're in the Community Room of the Station, to the left as you enter.
** If you wish to attend online, you'll need to rsvp. WATCH FOR AN EMAIL from the event organizer containing a link. You can also send a msg to the Meetup Organizer (Lee) or speakup24x@gmail.com. We'll email you a link directly.
Sorry for the extra step, but we need to keep things manageable and provide a good experience for you. ..............................
