FATU: Joël Gideon, Theo Maassen, Yash Master en Rachid Larouz!
About the event
Legends & Talents from the Dutch comedy scene love performing on the FATU stage. And we understand why! The atmosphere, the line-up, and the audience are top-notch every edition. This season, we open with none other than Joël Gideon, Theo Maassen, Yash Master, and Rachid Larouz! Jeffrey Spalburg and DJ Phantom celebrated their 20th anniversary last season and aren't thinking about slowing down. This season, too, FATU will provide the best jokes, beats, and bites right here at Bijlmer Parktheater and on tour at de Kleine Komedie, Theater Zuidplein, and Diligentia. Joel Gideon
Joël Gideon (1996), born and raised in Rotterdam, has been a regular at Comedy Club Haug since 2023. As a stand-up comedian, he is a true storyteller who easily draws you into his tales right from the start. He views the audience as friends and family, to whom he simply wants to share what he has experienced this time. Additionally, in 2022, he began attending the prestigious Amsterdam Theatre School & Cabaret Academy, where he is being trained as a professional actor and theatre maker. While Joël may be quiet in everyday life, there is no sign of that on stage: he shares stories about his daily life in an infectious, authentic, and hilarious manner.
Theo Maassen
Theo Maassen (1966) grew up in Zijtaart, Brabant. When he saw an advertisement in the newspaper there in which Raoul Heertje encouraged up-and-coming and unappreciated talent to sign up with him as a comedian, he responded immediately. And so he became the first member of Comedytrain in 1990. In the same year, he participated in Cameretten and won, albeit 'for lack of a better option', according to the jury, who at the time could not have foreseen that Maassen, with his uncompromising commitment and razor-sharp jokes, would grow into one of the Netherlands' best and most talked-about comedians.
From his third show, Ruwe Pit, he has been met with nothing but rave reviews and sold-out shows, and in 2006 his career was crowned with just about every prize a comedian in the Netherlands could win. Within the span of about a month and a half, he won the Critics' Prize, the Prince Bernhard Culture Fund Theatre Prize, and the Poelifinario, branding him as the comedian of the moment. In between, he also scored a massive number one hit with the carnival smash Lauwe Pis, stole the UEFA Cup from the stadium of his beloved PSV, and excelled as an actor in films such as Zwartboek and TBS. Fortunately, this triumphant run did not prevent Maassen from showing his face at Toomler with great regularity, invariably to fire his very latest material at an unsuspecting audience.
In 2017, Theo won the Poelifinario cabaret award for the second time. He received the prize for his show Van Kwaad Tot Erger, which was judged by the jury as the most impressive performance of the season.
Yash Master
YASH MASTER (23), an aspiring comedian from Amsterdam Southeast. He has been playing the clown since he was young and that hasn't changed. With his jokes he often pushes the boundaries and might even cross them. Otherwise, he is a nice guy (he thinks so himself). Laugh at your own risk.
Rachid Larouz
MC, stand-up comedian, cabaret artist, and presenter Rachid Larouz was born in Goulmima (Morocco) and lives in Amsterdam-West. For Rachid, it is the ideal place in a world full of multicultural misunderstandings to find inspiration. Armed with his charm and a healthy dose of self-mockery, this born entertainer takes you on a wild journey, where no corner is too crazy for him and no venue is too small or too large.
Rachid is the initiator of De IsLamas. In April 2001, the Dutch public was introduced to De IsLamas for the first time. De IsLamas is a group of talented artists with Moroccan roots who tell personal stories in Arabic/Berber and a little Dutch. The performance is intended for Moroccans, Egyptians, Algerians, and Arabs and is spoken exclusively in those languages.
Rachid appeared as a finalist at the Amsterdam…
