Easy Hiking 🤠: Vilanova i la Geltrú to Sitges (Garraf)

(ES/CAT 👇) No, BCN Polyglots didn't make a mistake by posting this hike 😄 Starting this Saturday 17 October, besides language exchanges and films in original version, we'll also go hiking with the English, French and German groups together. There's nothing better than chatting while we walk, because "se hace camino al andar"... or something like that 😉

🥾 This is our first hike and it's for you if you're not used to hiking. 📊 Easy level 🤠

📍 INFO *We meet at Barcelona-Sants station, next to the Rodalies ticket machines, between 9:40 and 9:55.*

🚆 We'll take the 10:06 train from platform 11 and arrive in Vilanova i la Geltrú at 10:44. 🙋 If it's easier for you, you can join the group directly at Vilanova i la Geltrú station. 🎫 Vilanova i la Geltrú and Sitges are in Zone 4. A return ticket costs 11 euros and you buy it yourself at the station. 🔙 We'll go back to Barcelona by train from Sitges.

🌲 The usual route between Vilanova i la Geltrú and Sitges follows the coastal path (camí de ronda), next to the sea. But since May there have been works on the railway that will last about 9 months, so we'll take an alternative route through the forest above the tracks. 📏 It's almost 10 km on easy tracks, with almost no ups and downs. 🌦️ If the forecast during the week is still light or moderate rain, the hike goes ahead. If anything changes, this text will be updated and you'll also be informed through the BCN Polyglots Hiking📍(Meeting Point) WhatsApp chat. 📸 In the photos you can see the meeting points and some parts of the route.

What to bring 💧 At least 1 litre of water (1.5 litres is better). 🥾 Hiking boots or trainers with a good sole. No sandals or flip-flops. 🥪 A sandwich or a lunchbox with food. 🍎 Some snacks, like fruit, nuts or a cereal bar. 🧥 A raincoat or a rain poncho. 👕 Comfortable clothes in layers and a spare T-shirt. 🧢 A cap and sunscreen, in case the sun comes out. 📱 Your phone, fully charged. 🪪 Your ID card, NIE or passport and your health card or medical insurance card. 💊 Your personal medication, if you take any. 🧻 Paper tissues. 🗑️ A bag for your rubbish. We leave the forest as clean as we found it.

It's not a professional activity and there are no qualified mountain guides or instructors. 🚫 BCN Polyglots has no accident or liability insurance for this outing. 🪨 Walking in the forest has normal risks, even on an easy route. For example, falls, sprained ankles, slipping on mud or in the rain, loose stones, insect bites or tiredness. 💪 By signing up, you confirm that you are fit and healthy enough to walk about 10 km.
